Work and Achievements
Reaching Hand is a registered Charitable Trust started in 1996 in Bangalore to work with vulnerable children, marginalized women and families so that, they can lead a life of self -worth and dignity. We empower them by providing quality education, skill development training, health and hygiene services.
TCS World 10K 2017 is a platform for us to address a pertinent issue – the increasing number of drop out cases among girls owing to the lack of proper sanitation facilities in school. Due to the above mentioned reason, many adolescent girls could not attend their classes for 5 -7 days a month during their menstrual period. To tackle the burning issue, we run a programme called ' GIRLS GLORY ' in 74 partner schools where we build clean toilets for them.
Besides, providing access to clean toilets, we also educate them on health and hygiene pertaining to puberty, through this programme. The help extended by our volunteers are of immense importance as their interaction have helped a lot to bring about a fresh perspective among girl students towards health and hygiene.
So far, more than 5000 girls have already got new rest rooms which have given them access to quality education. Apart from successfully running the programme in urban and rural Bangalore, one each in Odisha, Chennai, Pune, Hyderabad and Delhi, we have recently extended it to Sikkim and Kashmir.
We, now look forward to impact more than 10,000 girl children by providing them proper rest rooms from the funds that will be raised through this platform along with providing drinking water facilities for 15 schools.
Fund Utilisation Statement
The funds that will be raised through this event will be used to build & renovate toilet facilities in the schools for girls in our partnered school across Bangalore.
