I have long been engaged in different social activities for a long time now. I run and bike to raise funds for various charities or NGOs. In Boston, I raised funds for Cancer Research, American Liver Foundation, Alzheimer Disease Foundation, Brain Tumor Society, Pan Massachusetts Challenge, etc. I have also participated in the Vodafone Cyclothon for OBLF. As in the past many years, this year too I am running the Bangalore TCS World – Open 10K in support of One Billion Literates Foundation (OBLF).
OBLF is a registered non-profit charitable organization that works as a partner to the state government and adopts government primary schools in rural Bangalore.
The mission of this Foundation is to impart Basic English and computer skills to the children in the adopted schools so that they can find meaningful employment later on in life. The Foundation trains rural women from the communities around the schools and engages them to teach the children in the adopted schools. This unique model has seen a terrific response as it is not only benefiting underprivileged children but also the communities in which they live.
I would appreciate it very much if would make a donation to this Foundation that has been keeping management costs really low so that almost all the donor funds reach the under-served. They are currently impacting over 1000 rural children, with support from people like you, and their target for the next academic year is to cover about 2500 rural children.
I strongly believe that together we can make a difference in our society and hope you will join me to raise funds for this noble cause. All contributions are tax deductible u/s 80G. Please donate by clicking the button below or write a check in favor of "One Billion Literates Foundation" and mail it to me or directly to OBLF.
OBLF has developed a very interactive and fun way of teaching, which extensively uses Laptops as a teaching tool. I have set my target at raising funds for at least 8 laptops, costing Rs.2lakhs and hope that you will help me achieve my goal.
You are welcome to circulate this among your colleagues/friends and I will be thinking all of you as I run through the streets of Bangalore.
Let's show Bangalore that we Care!
Many thanks in advance
