My wife, Ruby, a Chartered Accountant by profession, has been volunteering for the Social Sector for over a decade, in the field of Education for the underprivileged.
Since the last 4 years she has been running an NGO - One Billion Literates Foundation (OBLF), founded in 2010 - as a full time volunteer Director.
Their goal is to bring quality education to children studying in rural govt. primary schools, to enable them to gain meaningful employment on reaching adulthood.
They teach English and Computer skills, using their own specially designed participatory curriculum to these children, by adopting govt. rural primary schools, after signing MOU with the Education Dept.
They empower rural women by training and employing women from the same communities, to impart these skills.
Currently OBLF is working in 25 rural schools in the Anekal taluk, covering over 1000 children. They have very measurable outcomes of the impact of their intervention.
Having completed 6 years, they want to expand their activities to cover about 2500 children this year.
I have decided to do my bit by raising funds to enable them to fund at least one new school - Rs.1.5 lakhs.
I hope you will support me by donating generously to this cause.
