I started going to Ankura soon after I joined college. My mum, Dr. Shobha Shashidhara started Ankura as a preschool. Dejected parents with children with disability came to us with a lot of hope. That’s when Ankura started a section for children with special needs.
First time I ever saw a child with Down’s syndrome, she haunted me for a week… all through the day and in my dream! That’s when I completely got involved with these children with needs. I did my Masters in Psychology and joined Ankura in 2009.
Parents have a lot of struggle to cope and accept reality. It’s a financial burden to get these children various therapies. Children come from all walks of life, Ankura has never compromised on quality of therapy or education that we provide.

This year, we want to double the number of children we have at Ankura and give subsidized therapy. We need to raise Rs. 5,300/- per child per month.
Many of you have not known what I did! I passionately work with children with special needs, the smile on their face and solace in their families gives me pleasure.
I take this opportunity to spread the word and raise funds for our little ones.
