Work and Achievements
Mobile Creches (MC) is a leading organisation in India, ensuring quality childcare services to most vulnerable children from birth to twelve years of age. MC is recognized for its ECD knowledge, gained from its decades of engagement with children, parents, communities, businesses, practitioners, advocates, implementers and policy makers to influence the understanding, programmes and policies for the youngest citizens of India.
There are 20 million children under the age of six living in poverty in urban India – at construction sites, on the streets, in the slums. Their parents work as informal workers, without any social security benefits from their employers or the state, with no access to childcare, maternity entitlements, health and education services. Children suffer neglect, abuse and deprivation of basic needs during their foundational years. 38 percent children under age five are stunted; 36 percent are underweight.3 Almost half of all children before the first 1000 days of life are chronically undernourished.
Till date MC has reached out to 870,000 children; mainstreamed 100,000 children in formal schools; trained 6,500 women as childcare workers; run 800 day-care centres; partnered with 250+ builders; networked with 100+ NGOs; and influenced key policies, laws and programmes.
MC is committed to leave no child behind. Especially the most invisible and vulnerable young children and their families, to enable their access to quality, holistic early childcare that ensures good health and nutrition, protects children from threats, and gives them opportunities for early learning. In a safe and loving environment.
