Empower the girls through Value Education, Life Coaching and Skill Development
Work and Achievements
Prajna Foundation is a non-funded voluntary organization (NGO) registered as a Trust in 1994 by the likes of Dr. Veena Sharma and Mr. TN Chaturvedi, Chairman of IIPA (former Governor of Karnataka).
The foundation has been providing slum children & women with the tools to escape the cycle of poverty through education and vocational training. Our special focus is on the Girl Child.
Initiatives & Impact: We have touched more than 150,000 lives and made a difference to about 40,000 people in the last 24 years of our service to humanity in the field of Girls Education, Women Empowerment, Gender Equality and Art & Culture.
KOSHISH (Effort): We have successfully isolated the children from the negative influence of the surrounding and provided shield from drug peddlers, traffickers and criminals. We have succeeded in mainstreaming the slum children in the vicinity. School drop outs have reduced with better academic results. There is visible and remarkable impact on behavioral changes of the children.
NAARI SHAKTI (Girl Power): When a girl’s education is cut short, she becomes far more vulnerable to the threats of early marriage and abandonment, early pregnancy, domestic abuse, sexual exploitation, trafficking, etc. To protect uneducated girls from these threats, we conduct self-defense and gender sensitization workshops.
VIRASAT (Heritage): Besides doing regular workshops and events at slums, we also organize cultural events in prominent auditoriums which has generated interest of the youth in our culture. We use this medium to showcase our efforts and motivate people to support the underprivileged children.
