Work and Achievements
We, Bolpur Ukilpatty Suchetana Society, have been working in areas that require dire support. Our programmes are:
Basantitala NCLP School - We started their first school named Basantitala NCLP School on first December 2012, having 100 children in this academic year. These children are mostly child labourers who worked at tea shops, factories or as servants, quite a few are orphans, without any permanent dwelling. Some lived on the platform of Bolpur Railway Station, but have been driven out since it’s an Indian Railways property. We aim to provide them accommodation, hygienic food and clean clothes, only then can we help them to build their healthy future through Education
Adopted tribal village namely “Faridpur” (which is situated in Birbhum Dist., WB) to build up as a model village with an aim of all-round development of tribal community such as education, health, hygiene, literacy programme, adult literacy, employment generation programme and tribal culture development. Awareness camps for health & hygiene, mal nutrition, child marriage, green revolution, health check-up camps, animal husbandry project with Duckery, Goatery, Fishery and vegetable cultivation through self-help groups
Skill Development Trainings have been provided in the rural and urban areas for Women such as Kantha Stitch (needle work), Batik, Hand Embroidery, Jute products, Tailoring, Wool knitting, Ladies' purse, Bag-making, etc which is partly funded by Central Govt., State Govt. A number of women of Bolpur Municipality were trained on tailoring, many women have purchased stitching machines by their own and are earning a standard amount. Currently about 100 women are working in the field of kantha stitch.
