Work and Achievements
Diya Foundation is a Vocational Training Center with a Vision to helping adults with intellectual challenges be self confident, productive and contributing members of Society.
Our adults learn to maintain personal hygiene, keep their rooms / work spaces clean, plan, shop and cook simple meals within a budget. They are aware where grocery shops, banks, post office, hospital, restaurants are in the Community and are realizing their potential to be contributing/ participative members.
They have learned skills like filing, scanning, printing, basic data entry, using a photocopier and working with photoshop to design brochures, posters, greeting cards, menus, etc.; They have also learned work skills like: cleaning and stacking shelves, setting tables, wiping dishes, dry mopping, wet mopping, vacuuming, mixie grinding, etc. Some have even gotten jobs in the Community and are now proud bread winners taking care of their parents and siblings. They learn all about health and wellbeing through their participation in the TCS World 10K.
Fund Utilisation Statement
Cost of training per adult with intellectual challenges is Rs. 8000/-. Funds raised will go towards training costs of intellectually challenged adults in Life skills training and Work skills; Land/building corpus, independent living project and Leisure Clubs.
