There are three things necessary or survival: food, shelter and clothing. All of us reading this are privileged enough to have access to all the three necessities. Unfortunately, there are still millions of Indians and billions of others out there who do not have access to shelter. We cannot imagine living on the streets without the safety of our homes. But there are people for whom this situation has become the norm. There aren't enough steps being taken to eradicate this problem from the world.
Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organisation that ensures that people have a roof over their heads to ensure a better standard of living. Habitat for Humanity was started in 1983 and have so far impacted 319,375 people by providing them with a home. In addition to giving homes they also help rebuild homes that have been affected by disasters. In addition to giving Indians new homes, Habitat for Humanity, is ensuring that people do not have to defecate in the open. They have initiated a campaign known as `Sensitise to Sanitise’ to spread awareness on the necessity of sanitation and also build sanitation units.
Their goal is to reach out 60 million people by the year 2022. I am fortunate enough to be part of their journey to reach this goal. Be part of this campaign to ensure that they reach their goal by donating to their organisation or volunteering. Together, let's save lives.
