In my 7th year of running for the 'Girl-Child' in the TCS World 10k, am moving my support to a small organisation that is on the brink of expansion - The Baale Mane.
The Baale Mane is a home for 60 girls near Hesaraghatta, just outside Bangalore. They provide long-term and holistic care for girls who have been orphaned, abandoned or subject to violence, abuse, neglect or extreme poverty. With a strong focus on education; the girls all attend local schools, and after PUC level, depending on their ability and interest, they go on to college or take vocational training courses and begin working. Baale Mane supports young women over 18 years of age in the city throughout their chosen course, and then 6 months into their first job.
Over 100 girls have now passed through the Baale Mane home and are leading independent lives working or with young families. Currently the youngest girl in Baale is a 7 year old and the oldest completed her degree. Join me in making these girls independent and strong women!
