Run for a Cause

What do you think of when someone says they are “running for a cause” Most picture a runner crossing a finish line. But for my run at the JBG Kolkata Marathon, it means turning my energy into a lifeline for a village in the Sundarbans that refuses to let its children down.

I am running my very first official 10km race to raise ₹50,000 with Vrikshit Foundation Kolkata.

Every single rupee goes straight to the ground to give those children (classes 1 to 5) the foundational education they are currently being denied.

The harsh reality is that there are not enough primary schools. Instead of giving up, village heroes—local youth, women, and educated elders—stepped up as teachers. They are transforming makeshift spaces into classrooms, ensuring no child’s future is cut short by where they were born.
