Grace Reformed Trust
Grace Reformed Trust runs a free training school (GRT Special School) for disabled, helpless, poor children in Bangalore. Helping the helpless is the mission of our organization.
Work and Achievements
Starting from humble beginnings in 2015, we now have almost 30 children and rely solely on donations and sponsorship to achieve our goal of enabling children to become independent and more able to express themselves, also enjoying a better quality of life.
Our children are amongst the most helpless and come from the poorest of poor families. Many of the children we care for suffer from more than one medical condition, typically Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Mental Retardation and Autism. Usually the children are not well-enough to be accepted by fee-paying schools and most live their short lives in pitiful conditions.
GRT Special School provides door-to-door transport for children. A medical examination is carried out by our main benefactor, Bangalore Baptist Hospital. Based on this, the school arranges treatment for the children. School employees are well trained and there is a visiting physiotherapist, speech therapist and a specialist to develop the children’s daily living activities, supported by other volunteers.
We have developed an awareness program, with participation of the children and visit local colleges and IT companies, most recently on Down Syndrome day.
On a self-help basis, the children make simple jewelry designs, which are sold in our shop.
